Vetta Ermetico Cronografo Multi Scale “Snail” Dial, 38mm, Circa 1940s
Vetta Ermetico Cronografo Multi Scale “Snail” Dial, 38mm, Circa 1940s
This is a really beautiful and stunning 38mm Chronograph by Vetta, Circa 1940s. It is by far not the most expensive watch in our collection, but it might be the most beautiful one. The dial is two-tome opaline with luminescent hour markers, printed numbers and scale completely intact and with hardly any age patina. The hands are original gold feuille hands. The word Cronographo is beautifully printed and follows the lines of the case.
The 38mm diameter stainless steel is massive ‘IMPERMEABLE’ (waterproof) case is pressure fitted back with matching serial numbers on the case back and lugs. The case appears unpolished with sharp edges, thick lugs and clear serial numbers visible in the back. The case is 12.5mm thick, giving the watch a nice presence on the wrist
The movement is the manual wind Valjoux 22 movement, 17 jewels, 14 ligne – 31.3 mm column wheel controlled chronograph, with two sub-dials, one as 60 seconds, counter and the other as 30 minutes counter. It has a beat of 18,000 per hour and a power-reserve of 42 hours. The Valjoux 22 was a high-grade movement that stayed in production all the way from 1914-1974.
The movement is in very good running condition, keeping accurate time. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an Italian work of art.
Presented with Box and Warranty Card. We fitted a new Horween cordovan shell leather strap with this watch.
