Rolex Ref 3372 Oyster Perpetual ‘Bubbleback’ Stainless Steel and Rose Gold Watch, circa 1945
Rolex Ref 3372 Oyster Perpetual ‘Bubbleback’ Stainless Steel and Rose Gold Watch, circa 1945
This is an excellent vintage Rolex stainless steel and rose gold Rolex Bubbleback with an automatic movement from 1945. Rolex debuted the first Bubbleback in 1933, that featured the first automatic rotor. Rather than making the watch larger, Rolex designed the half-domed case back to accommodate the thicker rotor mechanism. The watch is 14.2 mm tick, so it earned the nickname “Bubbleback” among English speakers and the Italians named it the "ovettone" or “Little Egg.”
Our watch is a well-preserved and completely original example of the post war models that relied more on stainless steel than precious metals. The original silver dial is unrestored and in very good condition for its age. The original radium lume plots and Arabic numbers are intact and in good undisturbed condition. They react slightly to Geiger counter but safe because the condition is not disturbed.
Case measures 32 mm shows light signs of wear. The case probably received a light polish in its lifetime but the case proportions and beveled edges on the lugs remain strong. Original rose gold oyster crown.
The movement is clean without any scratches or oxidation. We recently had the movement completely overhauled. 12 month warranty.
Case, dial and movement signed Rolex.
