Rodania Geometer, Rare ORIGINAL and Important Chronograph w/ Bracelet, 1954
Rodania Geometer, Rare ORIGINAL and Important Chronograph w/ Bracelet, 1954
The original Rodania Geometer reference was conceived by a little-known brand named Rodania in 1954 and it bears a striking resemblance to the Original Omega Speedmaster Ref 2915-1 which came out three years later. The original Geometer is as difficult to find as an original 2915 Speedmaster, but it carries a fraction of the price. Rodania only ever achieved cult status and was wiped out by the quartz crisis, making this watch both impossible to find and difficult to research.
The movement is a Valjoux 72, adjusted in three positions to provide superior performance. The Valjoux 72 was ubiquitous throughout the 1950’s-1970’s and was not heavily modified by the many manufacturers who used it. Consequently, while this watch is rare, it’s as easy to service and maintain as any vintage Rolex Daytonas made before 1988.
Appearance wise, along with the layout of the dial, the dauphin hands display a warm shade of lume and evoke the 2915 Speedmasters. The case has a diameter of 38mm and a lug width of 20mm, making it a perfect companion for any occasion.
Quite possibly, the only thing that’s harder to find than the Geometer is the original Rodania steel bracelet. We are fortunate to be able to offer our watch with the steel bracelet in mint condition.
The condition of this watch is excellent: the case is unpolished with strong definition on the lugs. The dial is perfect and has turned a rich tropical brown color. The tip of the hour hand is chipped off at the very end, but the luminescent portion is perfectly intact. This does not affect the beauty of the dial and watch. The movement is clean and runs strong.
