The Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5800/1A-001 is a rare and sought-after midsize variant of the iconic Nautilus. This reference was made for a very short period, from 2006 to 2007 when it was rolled out as part of the 30th-anniversary celebration of the Nautilus. It is considered one of the rarer modern Nautilus models. The reference 5800 was essentially a midsize version (38.4mm) of the iconic Nautilus, bridging the gap between the discontinued 3800 and the larger 5711.
This reference was the first steel Nautilus with a crystal display back, but it is faithful to Gerald Genta's original two piece case design of the Ref 3700. Additionally, the dial is the same blackish blue color as the original Ref 3700.
Since the Ref 5800 was only produced for a short period, it is rarer than the Ref 5711 and very much desirable for collectors looking for a smaller-sized Nautilus. At one point, prices of Ref 5800 had appreciated significantly, with examples in excellent condition commanding well over six figures. In the current market, and at our offer price, this model represents an excellent and relatively affordable steel Nautilus model that should do well as we approach the 50th anniversary celebration of the Nautilus line in 2026.
