The IWC Vintage Collection Ingenieur Automatic Ref IW3233-05 was introduced in 2008, commemorating 140 years of IWC, from 1868 to 2008. Ref IW3233-05 was produced in a limited edition of only 500 examples in platinum. The retail price was 43’000.- CHF; but we can offer this watch, in mint condition, at a significant discount.
This watch has an automatic self-winding IWC caliber 80111 movement, which includes the patented Pellaton bidirectional automatic winding system. The Pellaton winding mechanism is the gold standard in modern automatic watches. The movement is rhodium-plated, with fausses côtes embellishment. It is constructed with 28 jewels, a shock absorber device, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that is adjusted for temperature and five positions, and a self-compensating balance spring. It includes a micrometer regulator, a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting. The movement oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz), and it has a 44-hour power reserve at full wind.
The 42.5mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs, and stepped bezel are polished/brushed. The dial is silver-plated with applied "boat" baton indices and luminous dot hour markers, faceted alpha silvered hands with luminous inserts, and a center sweep seconds hand with an arrow tip. A silver rimmed date aperture window is at 3 o'clock. It's water resistant to 120 meters/400 feet, and the 14.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.
It has an alligator leather strap with an IWC platinum tang buckle and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coatings. It has a screw-down platinum winding crown and a solid screw-down case back engraved on the polished rim with "INGENIEUR" hallmarks and serial numbers.
The watch comes complete with box, papers and original warranty card dated 2011.
