This is a rare and unusual chronograph from the 1950s with a heavy screw back waterproof case.

The most outstanding feature of this timepiece is the original lacquered black dial with applied tritium Arabic numbers. The dial is co-signed with the retailer’s name Casa Masson from Brazil. The dial features three large sub-dials with a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3:00, a 12-hour counter at 6:00 and a small seconds hand at 9:00. The condition of the dial is amazing.

The watch is equipped with the Valjoux 71 movement, which is a refined 14 ligne column wheel movement. Produced from 1914 through 1974, the Valjoux 71 is a larger (14”’, 31.3 mm diameter) predecessor to the famous Valjoux 72. Based on the Valjoux Cal. 22, Cal. 71 GHH added a 12-hour counter at 6:00 in 1938. Benefitting from the larger balance the Valjoux 71 is a very reliable and accurate movement suitable for precision applications such as aviation and automotive racing.

The watch is in all original unpolished condition with a sharp case and a brilliant dial.
