This Oysterquartz Day-Date, ref 19019, in 18K white gold, with a brushed blue dial is probably one of the finest and most desirable quartz watches ever produced. The black and blue dials on these Rolex Day-Date models are quite uncommon, and the radiant satin blue dial on our Day-Date example (without precious stones) is positively stunning and VERY RARE.
The watch measures at a nominal 36 mm diameter, but the dial is positioned on a square block (like the AP Royal Oak and the Patek Nautilus) so the net effect is a very contemporary 40 mm watch. The Oysterquartz is 12.5 mm thick so it wears comfortably as a dress or casual piece. The alternating satin and high polish finish on the flat and round links creates a beautiful and high contrast visual effect on the bracelet. The same effect is present on the case too.
As shown in the photos, the condition of this watch is impeccable with strong edges and pronounced hallmarks all around.
Rolex makes one million watches a year, but in its 20 year run only 25,000 Oysterquartz were made, far fewer in Day-Date and still fewer in white gold. In addition, because of the blue dial on this watch, you are likely to never run into another collector wearing this same watch. Please make sure and read our short blog piece on why Rolex Oysterquartz matters as a connaisseur’s piece.
