Description
Patek Phillipe 2458 R – J.B. Champion Reference
This is a fine and rare 18K rose gold watch, manufactured by Patek Philippe, Genève circa 1953. This is the reference with an oversized case that Patek chose to make the JB Champion Platinum Observatory watch that sold for over $3 mil. This model is exceedingly rare in rose gold, especially in such a mint condition.
Ref. 2458 is fitted with Patek’s caliber 12-400 18 jewel manual wind movement with a subsidiary center seconds hand. The movement is stamped with the Geneva Seal. It is fitted with a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance adjusted for heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, a self-compensating Breguet balance-spring, and a micrometer regulator.
This is a rare pink gold watch with an oversized case, art deco hour markers at 3 and 9, and fancy sculpted lugs. The unpolished case is in mint condition, with razor sharp lugs and a sharp hallmark between the lugs. The original dial is flawless, with raised enamel and markers showing no signs of cleaning. The case back, dust cap, 18K rose gold Patek, original dial and movement are all signed. 35.5mm diam.
